Something that really makes me happy? A great fashion magazine cover. And ELLE UK definitely made me happy today. For their September issue they chose Mary Kate Olsen to be on the cover, who is one of the very few celebrities that I like. She is known as the more crazy-fashionable twin, her style is very Bohemian and extravagant and so it’s no surprise that ELLE put her on two covers this year. They even call her a “modern icon”…dunno about that but she is definitely influencing a lot of girls who look up to her. The cover which will be in stores is not even released yet but the subscribers cover is the one I posted above. Three MKs…and a huge Miu Miu coat….love it!

Want It Wednesday: All Things Alexander Wang

Lately, I have been adoring all things Alexander Wang. You see, when Alexander Wang sent his Spring 2010 collection down the runway, I fell in love. The design aesthetic paired sportswear with preppy cool. And while the collection was far too tomboy for many, I found so many elements that I loved.


My Want It Wednesday this week is much more attainable (well not the entire collage). Here is the better thing, half the items above are marked down. I bought two of them: the Jersey Dress with Slinky Combo and the Brady Clutch. The amount of you that truly disliked this clutch was quite high compared to those that like it, but I loved it then and love it now. I am a major college football fan. And while a football clutch seems cliche, I think it is the coolest thing ever. I will wear it proud next year!

Coachella Festivalgoers Stay Perfectly Chic While Keeping Cool

Over the weekend, hordes of music fans descended upon California’s desert to catch the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.—the unofficial kickoff to the music festival-going season that spans across the globe and goes deep into the summer months.

The cavalcade of musical acts—which included Jay-Z, Pavement, Fever Ray, Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear, Gorillaz, Phoenix and much more—were background noise to the spectacle of style happening out on the field and at many of the pool parties being thrown all over the Palm Springs landscape.

The following festivalgoers provided street-style eye candy with effortlessly pulled-together outfits—mixing and matching everything from vintage dresses to floral rompers, lace tops, denim cutoffs with combat boots, chic sandals and signature shades—to survive the three days of sun-soaked partying, dancing and music.

Hottest in Apparel Winners!

First and formost, I want to thank all the participants in CHIQ's first ever trendsetter contest "Hottest in Apparel." I've enjoyed seeing what you think is hot, and we've truly had amazing posts on Chiq.com. That said (DRUMROLL PLEASE), I would like to announce that we've had two winners of the first place prize of $250 for uploading the hottest in apparel item to Chiq.com: Gratia and Ari930. These ladies were tied neck and neck until our contest end time of midnight EST April 22.



Both Gratia and Ari930 are very excited about their recent win, Ari930 commenting that she is "extremely excited about winning. Other than music contests, I've never won anything." Gratia happily replied "Thank you so much Chiq.com!" after receiving an email reporting that she had won.
